Moraea MM 17-17

Seed parent: MM 11-19 (M. aristata X villosa form A)
Pollen parent: Unknown (open pollinated)

The seed parent was one of my favorite early crosses because it had very weird, prominent streaks around the eye (like heroically overdone false eyelashes). I am glad to see some of the streaks showing up in its offspring.

MM 17-17b. There are no streaks on this flower, but the colors are great: Snow white tepals and a bright blue eye.

Or maybe not so snow white. I am pretty sure the photo below is the same plant as above, but there's a bit of purple in the tepals. I suspect they may open with a touch of purple that fades in the sun over time.
