Moraea MM 21-411

Seed parent: MM 18-334a ((M. villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)
Pollen parent: MM 18-334b ((M. villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)

M21-411a. The offspring of two very nice hybrids, this is a dandy flower. My only disappointment is that it's small, I will definitely breed more with it in the future. (And I also want to get a photo of it that's not chewed-on and about to close.)

Moraea MM 21-407

Seed parent: MM 14-146d (M. villosa x tulbaghensis grn) X villosa D
Pollen parent: MM 18-334a ((M. villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)

M 21-407a

M 21-407b

Moraea MM 21-394

Seed parent: MM 17-41a ('Zoe' sibling x M. atropunctata) X ('Zoe' sibling x atropunctata)
Pollen parent: MM 17-110a ('Zoe' sibling x M. atropunctata) X ('Zoe' sibling x ((atropunctata? x neopavonia) x (neopavonia x villosa weird)))

MM 21-394a. Very nice sharp ring around the eye.

Moraea MM 21-391

Seed parent: MM 17-118a (M. tripetala x calcicola) X unknown
Pollen parent: MM 13-89a (M. villosa x tulbaghensis grn) X villosa D

MM 21-391a

MM 21-391b. This is another one with a nice crisp ring around the eye.

MM 21-391c. I like the yellow hairs overlapping the blue eye.

MM 21-391d. Wow! Even more distinctive than form b.

Moraea MM 21-390

Seed parent: MM 18-91d (M. bellendenii x aristata) X ((atropunctata x calcicola) x (villosa x tulbaghensis grn))
Pollen parent: MM 18-344b (M. villosa B x villosa D) X ((aristata x villosa) x neopavonia sunrise)

MM 21-390a. Not the most spectacular flower overall, but I love the dreamy yellow-blue color gradient in the eye.

Moraea MM 21-388

Seed parent: MM 14-71b M. neopavonia blue X villosa D
Pollen parent: MM 14-71 M. neopavonia blue X villosa D

Hmmm, these flowers do not look a lot like the parents.

MM 21-388a. I like the contrast between the white tepals, orange blaze, and thin blue eye.

MM 21-388b. Look how sharply recurved the style crests are. That combined with the curved tips of the inner tepals makes for an interesting look.

Moraea MM 21-385

Seed parent: MM 18-312a ((M. atropunctata x calcicola) x (villosa x tulbaghensis grn)) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)
Pollen parent: GK 1699 MX_30 (parents unknown)

MM 21-385a

Moraea MM 21-382

Seed parent: MM 15-30b (M. aristata x villosa a?) X (villosa x tulbaghensis grn)
Pollen parent: MM 18-91b (M. bellendenii x aristata) X ((atropunctata x calcicola) x (villosa x tulbaghensis grn))

MM 21-382a

Moraea MM 21-371

Seed parent: MM 18-122a (M. loubseri x ((atropunctata? x neopavonia) x (atropunctata x calcicola))) X (bellendenii x neopavonia thin blue)
Pollen parent: MM 18-334b ((M. villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)

M 21-371a

Moraea MM 21-356

Seed parent: MM 18-312b ((M. atropunctata x calcicola) x (villosa x tulbaghensis grn)) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)
Pollen parent: MM 15-106c ((M. atropunctata x calcicola) x gigandra) X (villosa x tulbaghensis grn)

M 21-356a. I like this: rich intense colors and an interesting smoky band around the eye.

Moraea MM 21-354

Seed parent: MM 16-85a (M. aristata x gigandra) X (villosa A x tulbaghensis blue)
Pollen parent: MM 18-344b (M. villosa B x villosa D) X ((aristata x villosa) x neopavonia sunrise)

MM 21-354a.  I crossed a very large flower with a flower that's especially attractive. The result is not especially large, and although nice-looking it is not as nice as the pollen parent.

In other words, it didn't work.

Moraea MM 21-346

Seed parent: MM 18-19a ((M. aristata x villosa blue-green) x bellendenii) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)
Pollen parent: MM 15-122f M. atropunctata X longiaristata blue spots

MM 21-346a. Wow! This flower is small, but it has a very intricate, multi-colored eye. If I could get that pattern on a larger, more brightly-colored flower, that would be exciting.

MM 21-346b

MM 21-346c
(was x)

MM 21-346d (was y)

MM 21-346e (was z)

Moraea MM 21-342

Seed parent: MM 15-80b ((M. atropunctata x calcicola) x (atropunctata x calcicola)) X neopavonia 'Summerfield' old
Pollen parent: MM 18-312a ((M. atropunctata x calcicola) x (villosa x tulbaghensis grn)) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)

MM 21-342a

Moraea MM 21-339

Seed parent: Moraea villosa O
Pollen parent: Moraea 'Zoe'

MM 21-339a. Nice intense colors. 'Zoe' is a spotted flower, so this plant should have a recessive gene(s) for spots. If I can get that expressed in a future cross, and keep the rich colors, the result should be very nice.

Moraea MM 21-338

Seed parent: MM 18-67 (M. bellendenii x aristata) X (villosa F x (((atropunctata? x neopavonia) x villosa wt/blue-green) x (atropunctata? x neopavonia)))
Pollen parent: MM 13-149c ((M. atropunctata? x neopavonia) x gigandra) X (villosa x tulbaghensis grn)

MM 21-338a

The tepals fade from light yellow to cream.

Moraea MM 21-334

Seed parent: MM 13-137c M. tripetala X calcicola
Pollen parent: MM 17-110a ('Zoe' sibling x M. atropunctata) X ('Zoe' sibling x ((atropunctata? x neopavonia) x (neopavonia x villosa weird)))

MM 21-334a

Moraea MM 21-331

Seed parent: MM 18-329c (M. loubseri x ((atropunctata? x neopavonia) x (atropunctata x calcicola))) X villosa O
Pollen parent: MM 13-149c ((M. atropunctata? x neopavonia) x gigandra) X (villosa x tulbaghensis grn)

M 21-331a. Interesting. M. villosa o is only one of the grandparents of this cross, but its color scheme comes through clearly.

Moraea MM 21-330

Seed parent: MM 18-312b ((M. atropunctata x calcicola) x (villosa x tulbaghensis grn)) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)
Pollen parent: MM 13-14d (M. atropunctata x calcicola) X (atropunctata x calcicola)

These plants could also be MM 21-326; my records are unclear. They look like 13-14d in some ways, so I am guessing they are 21-330.

Moraea MM 21-320

Seed parent: MM 18-09a M. bellendenii X ((aristata x (atropunctata? x neopavonia)) x ((atropunctata? x neopavonia) x (aristata x (atropunctata? x neopavonia))))
Pollen parent: MM 18-13b (M. bellendenii x ((atropunctata? x neopavonia) x (atropunctata? x neopavonia))) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)

MM 21-320a

Moraea MM 21-316

Seed parent: MM 18-21 ((M. aristata x villosa blue-green) x bellendenii) X (villosa (row 5 middle) x (atropunctata? x neopavonia))
Pollen parent: unknown (OP)

Moraea MM 21-314

Seed parent: MM 18-91c (M. bellendenii x aristata) X ((atropunctata x calcicola) x (villosa x tulbaghensis grn))
Pollen parent: MM 15-60a (M. villosa x tulbaghensis grn) X (villosa x tulbaghensis grn)

MM 21-314a

MM 21-314b. I like the double ring at the base of the eye.

Moraea MM 21-308

Seed parent: MM 13-137c M. tripetala X calcicola
Pollen parent: MM 18-333a ((M. villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D) X (tulbaghensis dark eye x villosa h)

This is a very handsome collection of flowers.

MM 21-308a

MM 21-308b

MM 21-308c (formerly b)

Moraea MM 21-302

Seed parent: MM 10-16d (M. atropunctata? x neopavonia) X gigandra
Pollen parent: MM 18-13b (M. bellendenii x ((atropunctata? x neopavonia) x (atropunctata? x neopavonia))) X ((villosa x tulbaghensis grn) x villosa D)

MM 21-302a Oh wow, this is one of the most distinctive hybrids I've ever bred. The black central cup and big black ring around the eye are interesting, and then the two-tone eye with the little yellow dot is just fantastic. I want to make a lot of crosses with this thing, but it's so unusual that it's hard to figure out what to cross it with.
