Seed parent:
MM 14-116a ((
atropunctata x
calcicola) x (
atropunctata x
neopavonia)) X
atropunctata
MM 19-23a. The genetics of the pollen parent are unknown (it was from a batch of mixed seeds), but clearly M. atropunctata was involved. Their offspring also looks a lot like atropunctata, with an extravagant purple-black eye. It's not necessarily a beautiful flower, but it's very interesting.
This partly-open flower lets you see the
atropunctata-style coloring on the backs of the tepals.
MM 19-23b. This one is very different from its sibling, and it's a gorgeous flower.
Check out the iridescence in the eye. In direct sunlight it has a metallic sheen to it, like a butterfly's wing.
