Moraea MM 12-111

Seed parent: Moraea tripetala (small deep purple form)
Pollen parent: Moraea aristata

This is an interesting cross! The flowers are all quite small, unfortunately (the biggest is about half the size of M. aristata), but the variation in coloring is fun.

MM 12-111a. There's a lot going on here. The coloring is a little reminiscent of M. aristata, but the eye is very dark blue with some weird overtones of yellow in it. Then there's a white ring around the eye, and purple streaks extending into the tepals. If the flower were bigger it would be very striking.

MM 12-111b. Even smaller than form A, but the flowers are vivid purple and the white ring around the eye is very distinct. Once again we've got that dark purple-yellow eye.

MM 12-111c. A lot like form A, but with very little white ring around the eye.
