Moraea MM 12-194

Seed parent: Moraea lurida

Pollen parent: Moraea tripetala

What a fascinating little flower. From M. lurida we have the eye surrounded by a dark ring, the very dark inner tepals (the little pitchfork things between the larger petals), and two-tone leopard spots in the central cup. From M. tripetala we have the purple color, overall flower shape, and a tendency toward spots on the tepals (something it does in many other crosses as well).

MM 12-194a. Here are several different angles and exposures so you can see all the details.

MM 12-194d. Nice! Like an ink blot test in a flower. Colors include yellow, purple, black, and brownish magenta.
