Moraea MM 14-71

Seed parent: Moraea noepavonia with blue eye
Pollen parent: Moraea villosa form D

I was hoping for a reddish-orange flower. So far we're not all the way, but there's some progress. These flowers were raised by Garry Knipe from seeds I grew:

GK 1433.

GK 1433_1.

MM 14-71a.
Here's one I grew myself:

Here are some other flowers from this cross:

Moraea MM 14-09

Seed parent: Moraea ‘Zoe’ offspring
Pollen parent: MM 11-82a

The idea here was to cross two spotted flowers with different parentage, to see if I could get a very spotted flower. It worked pretty well.

Here are a couple that bloomed for me in 2018:

MM 14-09a This one is kind of promising. It has some of the speckles from Zoe.

MM 14-09b

These bloomed in 2019:

MM 14-09c

MM 14-09d. I like the very distinct white rim around the eye.

MM 14-09e

A sibling...

Iris breeder Garry Knipe grew this flower the same batch of seeds. I'm surprised it looks so different.

Moraea MM 13-73

Seed parent: Moraea aristata
Pollen parent: Moraea MM 11-161b

The pollen parent was a mahogany-red flower with dark eyes. With this cross I was hoping to get a red flower with aristata's blue eyes.

GK 1319. Raised by Garry Knipe from seeds I bred. No red here, but I like the central streak on the tepal.

Here's one I grew:

MM 13-73a. Not even close to red.

Moraea MM 13-35

Seed parent: Moraea villosa form A
Pollen parent: Moraea villosa form D

Crosses with villosa d often have a nice variety of colors, as in this case. The flowers labeled GK were grown by Garry Knipe. They are beautiful pastel shades, with bright eyes.

GK 1305_1

I received this one from Garry as GK 1305_1, but it looks to be a different offspring from the same cross:

Here are some I raised:

MM 13-35a

MM 13-35b

MM 13-35c

MM 13-35d.
Interesting extremely pale eyes, almost like a zombie...

Here's another one. Check out the very long tips on the style crests in the middle of the flower:

Moraea GK 1303

Seed parent: Moraea MM 09-02c
Pollen parent: Moraea villosa form D

These plants were bred and grown by Garry Knipe. They have some beautiful colors.

GK 1303_3. I like the pinkish colors in the tepals of this one.

Here's a second photo from a different year.

Moraea MM 12-59

Seed parent: Moraea villosa form C
Pollen parent: Moraea villosa form F

Iris breeder Garry Knipe grew the flowers below from seed I provided.

GK 1212_1.

GK 1212_2. I really like the green band around the eye in this one.

Moraea MM 12-102

Seed parent: Moraea villosa form A+
Pollen parent: Moraea villosa form F

Raised by Garry Knipe from seeds I bred.

GK 1209_5. This one picked up the streaky tepals from M. villosa A+.

Moraea MM 12-129

Seed parent: Moraea villosa form A
Pollen parent: Moraea villosa form F

I like the yellow band around the eye in this one. Raised by Garry Knipe, from seeds I bred.

Moraea MM 12-75

Seed parent: Moraea aristata
Pollen parent: Moraea villosa form F

These plants were grown by Garry Knipe. As so often happens with M. villosa crosses, the offspring look a lot like M. villosa.

GK 1203.

Moraea MM 11-40

Seed parent: Moraea gigandra
Pollen parent: Moraea aristata

This cross hasn't bloomed for me, but I gave some seeds to Garry Knipe and he's had a lot of success with them. I like it that M. aristata's pale blue eye has shown up in flowers that have purple tepals like M. gigandra.

GK 1202_2. Intriguing streaks and speckles in this flower.
